An Executive Summary

AxleBase is a computer system that stores and manages data.

It has been the world leader in its technology class for years.

* Data Size *

Objective: Biggest.

A single AxleBase table can hold two million copies of the biggest book library in the world, the Library Of Congress.

AxleBase capacity exceeds that of internet search engines and data warehouses, but he is not merely an internet search engine or data warehouse. He is a full-featured database manager that can apply a database manager’s power to very large data stores.

The AxleBase limit per table is twenty quintillion bytes or rows; i.e., twenty exabytes.

* Cost *

Objective: Lowest.

AxleBase runs on standard desktop computers. The poorest nations in the world can afford the hardware for AxleBase. One of his development machines is Windows 98.

And he will also run on expensive high-end servers if needed.

* Distributed Storage *

Objective: Store the biggest on the cheapest.

When needed, AxleBase can use networked computers as though they are a single computer to store a large data table. Again, he performs that magic with desktop computers.

Although internally complex, his distributed operation requires little human supervision. Distribution can be local or across a continent.

* Distributed System *

Objective: Super-computer power.

AxleBase can be distributed across many computers, if desired.

Cheap desktop computers become a super-computer under the control of AxleBase.

* Error Handling *

Objective: Extreme durability.

Whether running as a standard or a distributed database manager, AxleBase is designed to recover from errors in communication, in himself, and in hardware.

* Special Query Language *

Not needed.

AxleBase uses the industry-standard ANSI-92 SQL query language. Even when the data and system are distributed, he internally translates standard queries into what he needs.

* Special Operating System *

Not needed.

He contains all special mechanisms.

* Special Network *

Not needed.

Local, internet, wireless, etc.: he uses any standard network.

* Embeddable *

AxleBase is designed to be embedded in any software.

An organization can build simple software to meet local needs with local languages, brand names, and education level, and its software will house the world’s most powerful database manager.
